Big Brain Art
The name Big Brain Art started as a fun name for my etsy shop, where I sell handmade coloring books and art for kids rooms...an ongoing project. I always wanted the art to be something the kids could learn something from. Using the name for the classes seemed like a natural next step. Although our neighborhood is full of dance studios and soccer fields, kids who love art have to travel far to join expensive art classes. That is why we are starting to teach & do lessons. -Gia
Dave & Gia Vranich
Dave and Gia met in college in 1992 and both graduated from Carnegie Mellon University’s College of Fine Art in 1996. They married in 2007 and have 3 great kids.
Dave Vranich is a NYS certified High School art teacher with a Master in Art Education from Queens College. He has been teaching high school art and design in New York City for 15 years at New Design High School on the Lower East Side. Dave is also a practicing artist, who has shown his art at The Long Island Museum, and posts his realistic and conceptual work on facebook and instagram.
Gia Vranich worked as a web developer for Rare Medium and Digitas marketing companies and as a consultant more recently. She did front end development on websites and email building for companies like American Express, XM Radio, J.P. Morgan, Virgin Mobile, Pfizer and many more. She also spent many years with her own business as a decorative painter and kids room muralist, during the crash of the internet companies from 2000 to 2006. After staying home for a while with the kiddies, she was hired as a Substitute Teacher for Middle Country School district, and loves it so much - sometimes thinks she should have listened to her mom and become a teacher. :)
